Inspiring Change
We believe that together, through our daily actions, we can create a more sustainable future for people and the planet.
That's why we're committed to buying better and inspiring change, so you can do the same
Wearing skins to cover our skin has been part of our culture since we were hunter gatherers. Today we manufacture about 2.4 billion square metres of leather each year to make bags, shoes, belts, jackets, furniture and a multitude of other products; it's safe to say we love leather but this long-standing love affair has long-standing impacts on our planet.
What you can do
- Look out for brands who are members of the Leather Working Group
- Look out for products made using recycled or upcycled leather
Did you know?
- Tanneries are a major contributor to water pollution, the Buriganga River in Bangladesh has been known to turn black from the toxic chemicals including those released by the tanning industry
- Responsible leather uses less water, less chemicals and overall reduces the environmental impact of leather tanning
